
The Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill was introduced to Parliament on 17 December 2024, The Bill sets out seven key ambitions:
- Making a child-centred government
- Keeping families together and children safe
- Supporting children in the care system to thrive
- Cracking down on excessive profit making
- Driving high and rising standards for every child
- Removing barriers to opportunity in schools
- Creating a safer and higher quality education system for every child
This includes a number of policies, some of which are:
- Expanding the scope of regulation includes a clearer definition of what Full-time education means
- School uniforms: limit on branded items;
- Children not in school to include changes to the School Attendance Order (SAO) process;
- Ofsted powers of entry and investigations will permit HMCI to enter and investigate premises in certain specified situations;
