Martyn’s Law

All schools with 200 or more people (includes staff as well as pupils) must be prepared to meet the requirements of the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025, also known as Martyn’s Law. There is a 24 month implementation period, but schools should be thinking about their actions now. The Home Office’s Terrorism (protection of premises) Act 2025: Standard duty requirements factsheet provides a useful summary of what’s involved. There is also non-statutory guidance that provides advice to help educational settings be better prepared and able to respond to terrorism and other major incidents – available here.
